My name is Rodrigo Brunori and I have a rather mixed background. I read English Studies at the Uned (so I’m a linguist) and journalism at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. I’ve also written three novels –visit my literary website here-, one of which, Me manda Stradivarius, was published in 1999 and received two important awards. As a young man, I trained as a musician. I didn’t pursue that endeavour any further but it left me with an abiding taste for sounds, language included. I reckon that was great for both literature and English pronunciation.
I’ve been teaching English for a long time, mostly in private classes, and I’ve always felt attracted by the challenge of giving an answer to all the problems the pronunciation of English poses to us Spanish speakers. In 2011 I worked for some months for Oxford University Press Spain as an online tutor. Then I corrected hundreds of recordings sent to me by students, got back to them with my recorded feedback and thus I saw the wonderful possibilities this kind of long-distance tutoring offers in pronunciation teaching.
I also worked as a journalist for many years. I specialised in supposedly boring, intricate subjects (taxes, and stuff), and I made it my business to explain them in a way that would be accurate, thorough, crystal clear and (yes, it’s possible) attractive. This had a considerable bearing on the way I approached this website as well.
Now I mainly teach English pronunciation, write occasional articles and work as a translator.
